Carbon Steel Pan

A family member gifted me one of these babies as an early Christmas present and I’m excited to see how it will serve me going forward. I’ve always had a bit of a distaste towards cast iron because it felt like people would not shut the fuck up about how great the fucking thing is, and people would fellate it so much that I ended up coining it as the “reddit pan,” as in it’s a huge circlejerk of fuckers who won’t stop to tell you how good something is even when it’s not necessary to be brought up (hello, induction cooking.) Over time I’ve come to develop the mindset that you just need the proper tool for the job, so I think I can get by with a nonstick, a cast iron, a stainless steel, and now a carbon steel. I understand that the carbon steel is meant to be more function over form, so I’ll take pride in the fact that sometimes it might end up looking like shit and “dirty,” because that’s very similar to cast iron, which I’ve already experienced through use.
