Going for a weekly update recap seems to be what I’ll be going for, so let’s get this going. The week itself was pretty uneventful, but I think that’s a good thing because it means that I can expect things to be as they were, so there’s comfort in what you already know is going to happen. Something that spiced things up this past week though was the arrival of a few friends who have been out of town for quite a while. It’s just been nice to catch up and see what’s been going on the past few months.

A good friend who works at the usual hangout spot got accepted into the space force, and it won’t be until a few months when he leaves, but we decided to celebrate the news. The guy is a fan of Dark Souls and dressed up as Solaire one Halloween, so I pulled some strings and was able to grab this baby as a dual belated Christmas gift and also a congratulatory gift. It’s just fucking awesome being able to get these kinds of things on time, and I don’t think this specific Amiibo had a run in the US to begin with.

I’ve been grinding out on the drums of Gitadora recently, and it’s nice to be able to see myself progressing bit by bit. The 4.65 is one of my favorite songs by Butaotome, and I won’t lie, I felt like I would fuck up the combo near the end, but I pulled through. The other song, Diamonds, was a song that just fucking killed me the first few times I played it, since it had a lot to do with incorporating constant drumming while also using the pedal in sync with all the hand movements. The moment things “clicked” for me and I realized I knew what to do — that’s one of the best feelings of clarity you can have, and it just makes me excited to see myself improve more and more in the future.

As I mentioned before, I’ve had a few friends come down to visit, and it occurred to me more than one year after having the damn thing that my car has independent air conditioning. That is to say, someone in the passenger’s seat can have their own temperature control, and I think that’s sick as fuck. I can do fine with 75, but someone on the other side might need it to be 78. If you’re feeling insane, you can have someone on Lo, while the other is on Hi. I don’t usually have people riding along with me to begin with, but it’s something I will definitely keep in mind since I feel like it’s something I should have known since the beginning.
I really wasn’t sure if I should have included stuff from the last week of December, but let’s just say we’re still in a testing stage for this. Week 2 will definitely be way more detailed as I’ll actually have a plan of what to do and be more proactive of writing things down as I go. It’s all about touching up at this point, I guess.
