Game Plateauing

A very good friend of mine once told me that there’s a fine line where a game can be fun, but then past that point, it feels like a job, and that’s something I both agree and disagree with. I believe it all just comes down to mood and drive (and a combination of both at the same time.) When you’re feeling frustrated that you’re not improving, or “plateaued” at a certain skill level, you start having different thought processes and it often ends up feeling like a job. I find it’s great to take a break and essentially let … Continue reading Game Plateauing

Time Capsule Receipt

I bought a copy of Killer7 for the GameCube as a gift for a friend and I was met with a giant rush of nostalgia when I went to check it out. When I bought it ($60 btw,) I went to look inside and make sure that all of the stuff was there and that everything was in good condition. What I did not expect to find was an old receipt that tells the story of almost 18 years ago. The game was originally sold in a local mom & pop store and it’s funny to think that it’s still … Continue reading Time Capsule Receipt

Expensive Complete In Box (?) Game

Jesus christ. Even if it does look like it’s complete, the box itself is torn. Even with the Pokemon tax, I still think that’s a hefty demand. I’m sure someone will get it anyway though. What I’m curious about is its functionality. I know you can transfer from Gen 3 to 4 using Pal Park, then 4 to 5 using some migration function. I don’t really follow Pokemon after Gen 5, but I am aware of Pokebank (Pokemon Home now?) allowing the function of transferring. Problem is I believe the 3DS shop is dead so I genuinely have no idea … Continue reading Expensive Complete In Box (?) Game

Enter The Gungeon: House Of The Gundead

What an interesting game this one is. I’m particularly impressed that a modern cabinet these days can run properly, and I suppose it’s because the cabinet uses Sinden guns. Sinden guns are essentially the HD successor to light guns since CRTs are a rare breed nowadays. It uses something akin to how the Wiimote or even the Eyetoy functioned: a webcam looking at the actual gun that allows it to track properly. I don’t think I can do the explanation justice, but I just know it works smoothly. As for the game itself, I never played the original Enter The … Continue reading Enter The Gungeon: House Of The Gundead

TF2 Duels

Decided to whip up some TF2 and play some casual, and got put on Dustbowl. Some excellent players on both teams, and I live by a “no fear” policy where I just play erratically and run into people’s faces. The best experience of this was when I just ended up smacking someone with a melee and it killed them, and it prompted what I assume was a rage duel request. I let em’ have it because the expert armchair psychologist in me communicates that it was a passive aggressive way of getting back at me. Being hit by a nooby … Continue reading TF2 Duels

Ludger Merch In 2023

Tales of Xillia 2 still remains one of my favorite games of all time, but I played the game back when I didn’t have much (relatively) disposable income. I didn’t have the ability to participate in the acquisition of merch for the Tales series in general until recently, which unfortunately when the series stopped being “hot.” Maybe I’ll get into the details but I genuinely did not enjoy Arise, and am fearful for what it means for the future of the series. To get back on track though, here I find a button in a store called the Forgotten Toy … Continue reading Ludger Merch In 2023

Getting Back Into Left 4 Dead 2

L4D2 was always considered a “shitpost” game for me. It’s fun to pick up and play, and it provides an interesting look into how fucked up people is. A psychological study, if you will. Okay, maybe I’m getting a bit into it and reading too much, but either way, it’s a fun as fuck game and whenever the game goes on sale it’s fun to play with the newer players. In the picture above, I totally was useless and thought it was funny just seeing the discrepancy in the amount of kills each person had. One person in the next … Continue reading Getting Back Into Left 4 Dead 2

Controller Woes

I have a PowerA Switch controller that I used when I would play Smash Ultimate, and it has served me well for that time. Come Fire Emblem Engage, I’ve been putting my regular Pro Controller through too much stress because fishing is a glorified Mario Party mashing minigame, so I was planning on using the PowerA controller while I wait for a turbo controller to come in the mail. Boy do I remember how much I hated the design and as how the internet refers it — anti consumer. So it runs off USB type B, which is obviously different … Continue reading Controller Woes
