As you all know, I do not really play many modern games that aren’t Nintendo games so this is a huge whiplash for me because I have never seen a loading screen before the actual game, but I suppose it helps streamline the game when you’re actually playing it. Perhaps it’s similar to how the Grand Theft Auto games would have that long ass loading screen as soon as you press start and this gets rid of the periodical loading that will happen while you’re are playing — or at least minimize them. It reminds me of how you would play Pokemon games on Pokemon stadium too. You had the option to load the entire game at once but have it take forever, or play immediately but have the game stutter and load every few seconds as if you’re having a seizure. With that in mind, I think I can see why the former method is what is used today because fuck waiting that amount in bursts.
